Positive Discrimination is discrimination.
TIMES, 27 Oct 2009: David Cameron faces a grassroots rebellion after announcing that he will impose all-women shortlists in vacant seats, Conservative Party grandees have warned.
Lord Tebbit said the policy was daft. Ann Widdecombe accused the Tory leader of patronising women, who should be elected on merit alone.
Mr Cameron signalled a U-turn last week when he said that where Tory MPs announced that they would stand down after January 1, the party would use powers normally reserved for by-elections to impose a shortlist. In some constituencies, all the candidates would be women.
